WIRM - What I really mean...

I had the privilege to work closely with a gifted copywriter and one of the things I took away from that experience was the phrase WIRM.

WIRM stands for What I Really Mean and it's a brilliant little phrase to keep in mind whenever you're communicating.

Try writing out or speaking out everything you want to say and then running it through the WIRM filter.

Once you think, "What I really mean..." you'll naturally shorten and simplify what you were going to say into something more palatable to the reader or listener.
