1. What have you found most challenging as a leader?
The competitive edge where people try and take the other leader for granted and or try to create delays or problems. Managing people who are not aligned with the same goal or vision.
2. How did you become a leader? Can you please briefly tell the story?
I believe I was always a leader since I was in school. Leading was the way I knew whether in school and in college. But sometimes you forget the role of a leader and just deal with day-to-day living. But one day dealing with the personal crisis I was given no choice but to stand up, take charge of my life, restart my professional life and take charge of my vision and while dealing with the professional aspect I started volunteering my time, joined boards of nonprofits and started leading these nonprofits and their visions and gradually everyone started calling me the Community leader. The media started covering my work and termed me a "leader"
3. How do you structure your work days from waking up to going to sleep?
I start my day with follow-ups, then go for a walk or run with my dog who is our family. Back to work, managing and juggling everything and then early evenings I spend with my son. Before I sleep I check my emails to ensure nothing is pending. Having everything covered is the key for me and that's how I get my good night's sleep.
4. What's a recent leadership lesson you've learned for the first time or been reminded of?
Back to basics or roots and it's great to go back from where you started and build the team as it gives the pride and sense of achievement that if you could do it then you can do it now and better than before.
