1. What have you found most challenging as a leader?

One of the enduring challenges that leaders face, and this has been true for many years, is the capacity to self-motivate, maintain unwavering discipline, and uphold consistency in both actions and commitments. As a leader, the primary objective is to take charge and pave the way. However, this endeavor becomes significantly more daunting if one cannot first effectively lead themselves. The ability to inspire and guide others hinges on the leader's own ability to remain internally motivated, resolute, and true to their word.

2. How did you become a leader? Can you please briefly tell the story?

Becoming a leader was an inherent part of my journey, long before I ventured into the world of business. The spark of leadership ignited within me during my kindergarten days, believe it or not. It was a moment when I recognized that I needed to rely on myself, as there wasn't anyone else who would come to my rescue. This realization was born from my early attempts to fit into various groups, often resulting in failure to make friends. This experience instilled a deep-rooted mentality: "I have to do it for myself because no one else will."

This early mindset paved the way for me to accumulate knowledge at a remarkably young age and to continuously tread a path of self-development. I found that this journey not only influenced my personal growth but also inspired others to embark on their own self-improvement journeys. Over time, I started to notice a change in how I was perceived by others. Many began to envy me, and it became apparent that my influence extended beyond personal growth.

I began to take on leadership roles not only within school hierarchies among students and school management but also within the sphere of friends and family. They started leaning on me for advice and guidance, recognizing my ability to lead by example and offer valuable insights. This transition from personal growth to a position of influence among peers and family has been a significant part of my leadership journey.

As I progressed, I had a defining moment a few years later, brought about by interactions with schoolmates. During this phase, I came to understand that it's not just about what you know; it's about how you apply that knowledge to benefit both yourself and others. This epiphany shifted my perspective, and I recognized that I was never meant to follow. This transition from personal growth to a position of influence among peers and family has been a significant part of my leadership journey.

As my influence grew, I found that it extended to various aspects of life, including business and sports. This leadership mindset and commitment to self-improvement have played pivotal roles in my success across different domains. In business, it has enabled me to lead by example, foster innovation, and drive meaningful outcomes.

In sports, this approach has translated into discipline, teamwork, and the ability to inspire others to perform at their best. Beyond business and sports, my commitment to leadership and personal growth has been a guiding light in every facet of my life, instilling a sense of purpose and direction that continues to shape my journey.

3. How do you structure your work days from waking up to going to sleep?

My daily routine is meticulously structured to ensure maximum productivity and balance. As soon as I wake up, my focus is on maintaining a healthy and fit lifestyle. This entails engaging in a workout or some form of physical activity to kickstart the day with a burst of energy.

Following this invigorating start, I prioritize diving into the most critical tasks for the day. It's during these early hours that my mind is at its sharpest, and I'm able to tackle complex challenges and decision-making with clarity and precision.

As the day unfolds, I allocate time for various activities, including building connections, networking, and learning something new. I firmly believe in the importance of continuous learning and staying up-to-date with the latest industry trends and innovations. Whether it's reading industry news, attending webinars, or simply engaging in insightful conversations with peers, this continuous learning process is an integral part of my daily routine.

After the workday draws to a close, I make it a point to reserve some time for relaxation and reflection. This post-work period allows me to unwind, assess my accomplishments, and set the stage for the following day. It's during this reflective time that I often find inspiration and innovative ideas. I value brainstorming and nurturing creativity, and this quiet moment of reflection often proves to be a fertile ground for generating fresh concepts and approaches.

Amidst all of this, I also place significant emphasis on spending quality time with my family and friends. Maintaining a work-life balance is not just a catchphrase for me; it's a fundamental aspect of my daily life. I cherish the moments of relaxation and enjoyment with loved ones, as these connections are essential to recharging my spirit and maintaining a holistic sense of well-being.

In summary, my structured daily routine revolves around holistic self-care, professional growth, creativity, and cherished personal connections. This approach allows me to optimize my productivity, foster innovation, and cultivate a balanced, fulfilling life.

4. What's a recent leadership lesson you've learned for the first time or been reminded of?

Trust Your Instincts: At times, your gut feeling can be a better guide than all the statistics, data, or experts in the world. Listen to that inner voice, for it often holds the wisdom you need. In the end, you'll either gain valuable lessons or celebrate a victory. What you'll never face is the enduring pain of regret, repeatedly thinking, "I should have trusted my instincts."

5. What's one book that has had a profound impact on your leadership so far? Can you please briefly tell the story of how that book impacted your leadership?

Managing for Results" by Peter Drucker is a book that has had an incredibly profound impact on me as a leader. Drucker's insights and wisdom transcend the pages, offering timeless principles that continue to shape my leadership approach.

One of the key takeaways from this book is the emphasis on results over activities. Drucker's focus on aligning efforts with outcomes, rather than getting lost in busyness, has been transformative in my leadership journey. It taught me that true leadership isn't about just doing things; it's about doing the right things that generate meaningful results.

Drucker's concept of management by objectives is another gem that resonates deeply with me. It reinforced the importance of setting clear, measurable goals and aligning the entire team's efforts towards achieving these objectives. This approach provides a roadmap for success and ensures everyone is working towards a common purpose.

Additionally, the book underscores the value of people and their development. Drucker's belief in nurturing and empowering individuals within an organization has profoundly shaped my approach as a leader. Recognizing that people are not just resources but the heart of any endeavor, I've made it a priority to support their growth and success.

The notion of continuous improvement, which Drucker champions, has become a core principle in my leadership philosophy. It's a reminder that leadership is a journey of constant learning and adaptation. We must always seek ways to enhance our strategies, processes, and ultimately, our results.

Ultimately, "Managing for Results" by Peter Drucker has guided me to be a leader who prioritizes outcomes, sets clear objectives, values people, and embraces the path of perpetual improvement.

6. If you could only give one piece of advice to a young leader, what would you say to them?

Celebrate Wins and Keep The Vision: Don't forget to celebrate successes, no matter how small. It boosts morale and keeps the team motivated, most importantly it adds on, imagine winning 1% each day for 365 days?

Most importantly, in your successes and more especially so in your failures, keep the end in mind.

Remember nothing happens to you, but everything happens for you. Don't lose sight of your goal which led to you starting the journey, don't let success get to your head and finally, don't let failure get to your heart.

7. What is one meaningful story that comes to mind from your time as a leader, so far?

One of the biggest leadership stories in my journey is the daily commitment to lead by example and inspire my team, even when circumstances are tough and motivation is low. This story is about facing the grind and never giving up.

Every day, I wake up with a clear sense of purpose, ready to tackle the day's challenges, and ensure that my team does the same. But there are days when everything seems to be going wrong. Maybe we're facing setbacks, or it's a gloomy, uninspiring morning. In these moments, I've learned that true leadership shines.

When things aren't going as planned, I make it a point to show up with unwavering determination. I understand that my attitude sets the tone for the team. If I'm motivated, positive, and ready to push through difficulties, it can be contagious. My team may see that even when times are tough, we can face the challenges together.

I communicate openly with my team about the reality of the situation, acknowledging the difficulties we're experiencing. But I also emphasize that, despite the challenges, we have a mission to fulfill. I remind them of our goals and the importance of staying committed, even when it's tempting to give in to demotivation.

As a leader, I'm not just there to guide; I'm there to inspire. I share stories of past triumphs, both individual and collective, to remind the team of what we're capable of achieving. I highlight our progress and celebrate even small wins to maintain morale.

In the end, the most significant lesson is that leadership is not just about leading when things are smooth sailing; it's about leading through the storm, inspiring your team to keep moving forward, even when they don't feel like it. It's about showing up, regardless of the circumstances, and demonstrating resilience and determination. It's about being the unwavering anchor that keeps the team on course, no matter how turbulent the waters may be.
