1. What have you found most challenging as a leader?
As a leader you are looked for as a role model and hence being always conscious of whatever we do is the biggest challenge
2. How did you become a leader? Can you please briefly tell the story?
While I started my career in the year 1986, I moved into a leadership role in 1992 with a team of 20 people which kept on growing as the years passed into a 500 team members. And in 2010 when I started as an entrepreneur it gave me enough courage to lead y own team of 150 people.
3. How do you structure your work days from waking up to going to sleep?
I am work late during the night as my nature of job requires me to connect with people from different time zones and which normally goes upto 3 am. I normally start my day by 8 am with a yoga session for 30 Minutes and after breakfast I am available for my day schedule by 9.30 am. in the eveningafter 6 pm I take a break for a walk with my pet dog for about 45 followed minutes followed by some quality time with family. And after dinner at 8 pm I am again back to my routine works
4. What's a recent leadership lesson you've learned for the first time or been reminded of?
Normally we tend to ignore others views during a decision making or team meetings which generally I don't do. But in one such occasion I did miss an argument from a colleague initially but later realized the importance of it and took it into consideration. If I had ignored it would have impacted the organization to a large extent. It is a lesson well learned.
5. What's one book that has had a profound impact on your leadership so far? Can you please briefly tell the story of how that book impacted your leadership?
How to Win written by Neil Irwin has impacted me a lot as it speaks about how to win in a winner take all world. This book has been well written with fascinating narratives of our fast changing world, filled with erudite analysis and practical advise. it also says that the people who adapt are the ones who win in business and life.
6. If you could only give one piece of advice to a young leader, what would you say to them?
Be focussed on what you want to do and do what your mind says to do. Never get disappointed on failures !
7. What is one meaningful story that comes to mind from your time as a leader, so far?
We all dream and making those dreams a reality had been the success of Dubai as a country. Making the impossible possible had been always the belief that the leaders had in UAE. And following their footsteps we had been implementing many new projects in UAE, like the worlds biggest Film City, Biggest Pharma City, under water theme park and a wild life sanctuary all in the proximity of deserts.
