1. What have you found most challenging as a leader?

As the responsible of leading Modabeats to a global scale, one of the biggest challenges I face every day is balancing the intricate demands of international textile markets while ensuring consistent quality and fostering strong partnerships with leading textile suppliers and brands.

2. How did you become a leader? Can you please briefly tell the story?

My journey to leadership has been anchored in a profound expertise in Supply Chain Management and Project Management, cultivated over 15 years of immersive experiences across diverse roles. My foundational education as an MBA and Industrial Engineer provided a robust framework to start building the path.

My leadership evolution is most evident from my roles at distinguished organizations such as RIPLEY, LACOSTE AND JERUTH, where I spearheaded transformative initiatives, oversaw expansive teams, and directed strategic supply chain operations. Additionally, my solid experience leading tech projects of advanced software solutions like SAP S4/HANA highlight my commitment to innovation and excellence. My leadership style reflects a comprehensive grasp of intricate business dynamics, a knack for fostering collaboration, and a steadfast dedication to driving our customers success.

At this stage of my life, as the leader of Modabeats, I must stand at the forefront of revolutionizing the textile import and export landscape. My role goes beyond mere management; it embodies a commitment to Modabeats' mission of seamlessly guiding our partners through the complexities of global textile markets.

I orchestrate a vast network of seasoned agents, ensuring that our clients access the most coveted textile hubs worldwide. With Modabeats, I champion a vision where top-tier quality intersects with strategic sourcing, empowering brands to resonate powerfully on international fashion stages. Through unwavering dedication, I ensure that every connection made under Modabeats' banner epitomizes excellence, reliability, and unparalleled value.

3. How do you structure your work days from waking up to going to sleep?

I begin with an early start to review global textile market trends, check communications from international partners due to different time zones, and engage in strategic planning sessions along with my agents.

My mid-morning is dedicated to team meetings, addressing concerns, setting daily priorities, and ensuring alignment with Modabeats' mission and goals.

Afternoons are typically reserved for overseeing the operations of our customers, liaising with agents across different regions, and addressing any logistical challenges or opportunities that arise.

I usually spend late afternoons strategizing growth opportunities, refining partnerships, exploring new markets, and brainstorming about new ways to innovate in the textile industry.

Evening hours might involve quick virtual meetings with potential partners, attending industry events, or fostering relationships that can enhance Modabeats' global presence. Before concluding the day, I take some time to review accomplishments, address any urgent matters that arose during the day, and set priorities for the next day.

Of course, I always ensure to carve out some personal and quality time for family and relaxation, recognizing the importance of work-life balance for sustained leadership effectiveness.

4. What's a recent leadership lesson you've learned for the first time or been reminded of?

Reflecting upon my journey at Modabeats and navigating the intricate realm of global textile trade, a recent leadership revelation has been the profound impact of fostering genuine partnerships. While expertise and strategy lay the foundation, it's the authenticity and mutual respect within relationships that truly propel success.

I've been reminded that every interaction, whether with seasoned agents or emerging brands, is an opportunity to cultivate trust and collaboration. In this dynamic industry, the blend of innovation and genuine human connection remains paramount. Thus, I continually emphasize nurturing these bonds, recognizing that our shared vision becomes more attainable when built upon a foundation of trust, transparency, and mutual growth.

5. What's one book that has had a profound impact on your leadership so far? Can you please briefly tell the story of how that book impacted your leadership?

Definitely one of the books that contributed the most to my vision of leadership is "Steve Jobs" by Walter Isaacson. Despite what some think of Jobs, it is important to note that he did not have the easy path to true leadership of the company that he co-founded. He learned from his own mistakes and that made him a more experienced leader.

Drawing insights from Walter Isaacson's illuminating portrayal of Steve Jobs, I was profoundly inspired by the relentless pursuit of excellence, innovation, and the unwavering commitment to vision over convention. Jobs' emphasis on marrying design with functionality resonated deeply with my approach in leading Modabeats.

Just as Jobs prioritized user experience and innovation at Apple, I've championed the seamless integration of technology and textiles, aiming to revolutionize the global textile landscape. Moreover, the book reaffirmed the significance of fostering a culture where creativity thrives, challenging norms, and continually pushing boundaries.

Embracing Jobs' principles, I've strived to cultivate an environment at Modabeats where disruptive ideas are celebrated, collaboration is paramount, and the pursuit of perfection is a collective endeavor.

6. If you could only give one piece of advice to a young leader, what would you say to them?

Embrace authenticity in every endeavor. In a world brimming with strategies and innovations, remember that genuine leadership stems from sincerity, integrity, and a true connection with those you lead. When authenticity guides your actions and decisions, you not only build trust but also inspire others to align with a shared vision, fostering an environment where both individuals and organizations thrive harmoniously.

7. What is one meaningful story that comes to mind from your time as a leader, so far?

There's a story that remains etched in my memory as a testament to the power of collaboration and vision.

A year ago, as we expanded the reach of Modabeats into a burgeoning textile market, we encountered unforeseen logistical challenges that threatened a crucial partnership with a prominent supplier. Deadlines loomed, and tensions ran high among the team. Recognizing the gravity of the situation, I convened an emergency meeting, urging everyone to set aside individual concerns and focus on collective solutions.

In the midst of brainstorming sessions and late-night strategy meetings, a junior team member named Marcela proposed a seemingly unconventional approach: leveraging our network of agents in a neighboring region to facilitate a seamless transition of goods, bypassing the logistical bottleneck. While met with initial skepticism, Marcela's meticulous plan, rooted in a deep understanding of local dynamics and leveraging untapped resources, began to resonate.

With unanimous support, we executed Marcela's strategy. In a matter of weeks, not only did we meet our deadlines, but we also solidified a partnership with the supplier that exceeded all expectations. More importantly, this experience reaffirmed a profound lesson: leadership isn't solely about directing from the helm but also about recognizing and harnessing the collective wisdom, innovation, and dedication of every team member. Marcela's initiative not only saved a crucial deal but also exemplified the invaluable insights and potential that lie within every member of our Modabeats family.
