1. What have you found most challenging as a leader?
Cultural differences of the team.
2. How did you become a leader? Can you please briefly tell the story?
I took on the leadership role as a result of a merger between two large companies. I never expected this opportunity but I have embraced it and my responsibilities continue to grow.
3. How do you structure your work days from waking up to going to sleep?
I search for messages of the administrative members of my team and then work my way up the chain to respond to urgent messages and prioritize needs of the team. I want to start with lowest levels so I can keep things moving at all levels of our organization.
4. What's a recent leadership lesson you've learned for the first time or been reminded of?
Consistency and communication are the two keys to leadership. If you can do both of these well, you will be successful.
5. What's one book that has had a profound impact on your leadership so far? Can you please briefly tell the story of how that book impacted your leadership?
The Multipliers By Liz Wiseman Helped me understand where I am standing in the way of development of those in my organization.
6. If you could only give one piece of advice to a young leader, what would you say to them?
Remain open. Too often people have a predesigned path for their career and you may miss opportunities.
7. What is one meaningful story that comes to mind from your time as a leader, so far?
I recently took over leadership of a larger team and it's been hard but then you get an unexpected call from someone one tier down in the organization that tell you how you've changed their life. Wow.
