1. As a leader, how do you build trust with employees, customers and other stakeholders?

As an open communicator, I emphasize the importance of talking with everyone on staff regularly. It is a demonstration of my vulnerabilities and my willingness to know about theirs. I am the same way with customers and stakeholders. The more we talk, the more we get to know about each other.

2. What do 'VISION' and 'MISSION' mean to you? And what does it actually look like to use them in real-world business?

Mission is who we are and vision outlines what we want to achieve over time. Both compliment one another during the journey.

3. How can a leader empower the people they're leading?

Delegation, in my opinion, is the leader's most underutilized tool in our toolbox. With the proper intent, delegation is a way to develop our people as it instills trust and confidence. At the same time, we are developing the next group of leaders.

4. Who are some of the coaches or mentors in your life who have had a positive influence on your leadership? Can you please tell a meaningful story about one of them?

Dr. Myles Munroe wrote a book in 1993 titled "Understanding Your Potential." It was a game changer for me because of the timing and the message. I learned how to tap into my potential in order to accomplish my goals, dreams, and aspirations. It was powerful!

5. Leadership is often more about what you DON'T do. How do you maintain focus in your role?

I am always in a mindset of serving, equipping, developing, and support others. It takes the focus off of me and where it should be - about others.

6. If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. Everyone plans differently. How do you plan for the week, month and years ahead in your role?

I am early to bed and early to rise. I plan out my day, everyday, between 5:00am to 7:00am when I am laser focused on all tasks at hand. I actually begin to chip away at priorities that early in the morning so that by 8:30am I have already completed several tasks.

7. What advice would you give to a young leader who is struggling to delegate effectively?

Remember, delegation is a tool to develop others and build their confidence. Be sure to communicate with your team that you trust them enough to delegate certain assignments to them. This helps them to understand the "why."
