1. As a leader, how do you build trust with employees, customers and other stakeholders?
As a leader, I build trust through brutal honesty, openly acknowledging both strengths and challenges. I foster an environment where everyone feels heard and valued, always eager to listen without judgment. Recognizing my own imperfections, I invite open dialogue and collaboration to overcome hurdles together. By being transparent and receptive, we create a foundation of trust, ensuring the growth and success of our collective journey. Embrace openness, let’s learn and grow together!
2. What do 'VISION' and 'MISSION' mean to you? And what does it actually look like to use them in real-world business?
To me, “VISION” is the lighthouse, guiding us towards what we aspire to achieve; it’s where we want to go, painting a compelling picture of the future. On the other hand, “MISSION” is our ‘why’, the driving force and purpose that fuels our journey. In real-world business, a clear vision propels us forward, while a meaningful mission anchors our every action. Embracing both, we navigate with purpose and strive towards a future filled with endless possibilities!
3. How can a leader empower the people they're leading?
A leader empowers others by assigning clear responsibilities, motivating them to achieve their goals, and showcasing their achievements as inspiration to all. It’s about fueling the drive within, celebrating every milestone, and being there to provide support whenever needed. This cultivates a vibrant environment where individuals are encouraged to thrive, fostering a collective spirit of achievement and setting the stage for shared success. Together, let’s unlock potential and inspire greatness!
4. Who are some of the coaches or mentors in your life who have had a positive influence on your leadership? Can you please tell a meaningful story about one of them?
Among the mentors who have profoundly shaped my leadership, my father, my children, and Peter Diamandis stand out prominently. My children, constantly challenging and inspiring, remind me of the beauty of perpetual growth, and Peter Diamandis ignites my ambition for exponential advancement through technology.
A week ago, I experienced a significant learning curve while leasing an electric vehicle in the United States. This venture was sparked by my oldest son's curiosity and confident proposition, “What do you think about leasing a Tesla, or maybe you prefer a car from another brand?” This question marked the beginning of a journey filled with unparalleled learning and discoveries, reminiscent of my days as a fighter pilot.
Faced with the unfamiliar, my determination was unwavering. My son, with precision and clarity, walked me through every step—from using the key fob to synchronizing the mobile phone for navigation. Each instruction represented a step towards adaptability and growth. This challenge, proposed by my son, illuminated a valuable truth—that embracing the unknown with a positive outlook and enjoying the learning process are integral to personal growth and development.
This revelation continues to inspire my leadership journey, reinforcing my commitment to adaptability and lifelong learning.
5. Leadership is often more about what you DON'T do. How do you maintain focus in your role?
Maintaining focus in leadership often revolves around what one chooses not to do. My compass is integrating leadership with my Massive Transformation Purpose: empowering leaders through AI-enhanced networks to solve global issues. This vision guides my every decision, ensuring that each step aligns with this overarching goal. By steadfastly adhering to this purpose, I cultivate clarity and drive, fostering impactful change and contributing to a brighter, more sustainable future for all. Let’s lead with purpose and make a difference!
6. If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. Everyone plans differently. How do you plan for the week, month and years ahead in your role?
Guided by the mantra, "If you fail to plan, you plan to fail," I meticulously chart my course. My Massive Transformation Purpose (MTP) serves as the cornerstone, sketching a roadmap five years into the future. From this vision, I distill the steps for each year, crafting a detailed plan for the ensuing twelve months, and finally, breaking it down to actionable goals for the first month. This structured approach, anchored in foresight and purpose, ensures a path marked with progress and meaningful impact. Here’s to a journey of purposeful strides and transformative achievements!
7. What advice would you give to a young leader who is struggling to delegate effectively?
To a young leader grappling with delegation, I'd say: Believe in yourself! Reflect periodically on your victories and the hurdles you’ve overcome by leveraging your innate talents and strengths. Remember, you have control over your thoughts, your responses, your self-awareness, and how you treat others. Embrace these aspects to build confidence and trust in your abilities and those of your team. Delegating will become an empowering exercise, fostering growth, collaboration, and mutual success. Keep shining and growing!
