1. What have you found most challenging as a church leader?
Apathy
2. How did you become a church leader? Can you please briefly tell the story?
Responded to a call to teach RE in primary schools as a uni student. Growing leadership took off incrementally from there.
3. How do you structure your work days from waking up to going to sleep?
not easy, try and use tech to serve me well. Work in teams. accountable to my wife. working on getting better and setting key things that need doing each week.
4. What's one book apart from the Bible that has had a profound impact on your leadership so far? Can you please briefly tell the story of how that book impacted your leadership?
Primary Purpose - Ted Haggard.
The notion of church unity and the profound impact it can have on an entire city. My leadership is almost entirely geared towards this these days.
5. What's the most recent significant leadership lesson you've learned?
Accountability and humility. Latest big Christian leaders to be "disgraced" - Karl Lentz and Ravi Zacharias - nobody is immune. The more influential a leader you are, the more moral danger accompanies you.
6. How do you develop a healthy leadership pipeline in a church?
working on it, not sure i'm good at it. Definitely close authentic relationships are the key, but also good structure and method. Courageous conversations are also crucial, test what the prospective leader is made of!
7. What is one meaningful story that comes to mind from your time as a church leader so far?
Amazing combined churches prayer services that I've had the joy of bringing together.
