1. What have you found most challenging as a Christian school leader?
Helping students of all ages to remain mindful of the fact that their personal and professional goals must always be vetted in God.
2. How do you structure your work days from waking up to going to sleep?
I begin with a morning devotional of Bible reading and writing in my gratitude journal. Afterwards, my goals and action items for the remainder of the day are delineated on my daily calendar.
3. What's the most recent significant leadership lesson you've learned?
Given the global impact of COVID-19, I've learned to appreciate the insights of 2 Timothy 1:7 in all situations.
4. What's one book apart from the Bible that has had a profound impact on your leadership so far? Can you please briefly tell the story of how that book impacted your leadership?
"The Purpose Driven Life" by Rick Warren inspired me to write my book, "Revelations in Business: Connecting Your Business Plan with God's Purpose and Plan for Your Life." After reading Rick Warren's book, I wondered how these insights relate to us in the workplace and marketplace. How do I know if I am in my divine assignment? How do I submit to a leader who I may not respect? These are some of the insights I share in my book. But, if Rick Warren had not been obedient to God in writing his book, I might not have been as inspired to write mine. Truly, we are all divinely connected for God's purpose and plan.
5. How do you find and keep great Christian teachers?
By praying to God for wisdom according to James 1:5 and following the prompting of the Holy Spirit in finding and aligning with colleagues who are equally yoked.
6. What's most important as a Christian school leader for developing a culture of wellbeing in your staff and students?
Following God's principles of love is most important. God is love. So, as His ambassadors we must exemplify love within our respective organizations.
7. What is one meaningful story that comes to mind from your time as a Christian school leader so far?
Last year, I had the honor of serving as the 2020 Commencement Speaker for Judson University. Given the COVID-19 pandemic, the entire ceremony had to re-designed. But, God still blessed us with an Ephesians 3:20 experience!
