1. What have you found most challenging as a leader?
New Zealand's Ministry of Education.
2. How did you become a leader? Can you please briefly tell the story?
Saw a range of improvements students need, applied them and through success earned leadership opportunities.
3. How do you structure your work days from waking up to going to sleep?
Live what I do so have never worked a day in my life. Wake up plan the day and get on with it. Never regard interruptions from people or problems that occur as burdens. A successful day included how you deal with challenges - not that they don't occur.
4. What's a recent leadership lesson you've learned for the first time or been reminded of?
Sometimes it is worth driving 6 hours for a face-to-face meeting as it shows that you high value the people.
5. What's one book that has had a profound impact on your leadership so far? Can you please briefly tell the story of how that book impacted your leadership?

6. If you could only give one piece of advice to a young leader, what would you say to them?
If you are not a part of the solution you are part of the problem and going the extra mile is something you often need to do many times a day.
